Our Story

Grown for Collectors, Not Catalogs

We root, grade, and photograph every rare specimen ourselves so what you see is exactly what arrives.

From One Grow Tent to a Collector Network

In 2021, I was three group buys deep into rare aroids and had been burned twice — once by a cutting that arrived with no roots and rotted within a week, once by a "variegated" Monstera that pushed four solid green leaves in a row. Every listing looked the same: a beautiful stock photo, vague grading, and no way to know what I'd actually receive. I started rooting my own overstock plants in a spare bedroom just to have specimens I trusted, and other collectors in my local plant group started asking to buy the extras.

Electro Cocina grew out of that spare bedroom. We still photograph the exact plant you're buying, not a stand-in, and we track every variegated cultivar across at least two new leaf cycles before it's listed, so you're not gambling on reversion. Plants ship rooted in substrate rather than as bare cuttings, because a plant that's already establishing survives the trip better and grows faster once it's on your shelf.

We're a small team, so we still personally answer every care question that comes in, and we still turn down cuttings we can't verify are true-to-name. That part isn't changing as we grow.
